Coming off a disastrous 2022 season, the Stony Brook men’s soccer team is looking for some star power to help it bounce back. Luckily for the program, it appears to have found a big-time player in defender Jon Jelercic.
The Seawolves (4-0) wrapped up their trip to San Diego on Friday with a 14-11 win over the No. 17 Stanford Cardinal. Stony Brook found itself down by as much as six goals in the second quarter before flipping a switch to remain unbeaten.
Coming into this past season, Stony Brook had significant holes to fill. Losses in leadership, talent and production from the 2021 team led to low expectations from the outside world. Being newcomers in a stronger conference did not help matters, either.
