The Latin American Caribbean Studies’ (LACS) yearly gallery, Braceros, a photographic documentation of Mexican migrant laborers expressed through the lens of the Hermanos Mayo, a photography collective, opened on Sept. 5 at the Social & Behavioral Sciences Building in Rm. 320.
With finals just a couple weeks away, students in the Stony Brook University Scholars program gathered at “Calm-a-Con” on Tuesday for a night of crafts, music and relaxation.
The annual Stony Brook Creative Explosion was held on Oct. 13 at 8 p.m. in the Student Activities Center auditorium and showcased this year’s homecoming court’s talents.
Students came to the “A Night on Brookway” event on March 23 to donate to the Broadway Cares fundraising organization, and to enjoy some Broadway entertainment.
Back in Spring 2013, I found out I had been accepted to Stony Brook University as a University Scholar. I was not quite sure what that meant, but coming here and participating in Scholars events; SCH 101, the introductory class for freshman; and Scholars advising gave me an idea. At first, it struck me as an honors program (which it is), bigger than the Honors College, but with a more social aspect. Speaking with faculty and staff related to the University Scholars program has helped me clean and clear up that impression a little bit.
