Quarterback Casey Case is Stony Brook’s shiny new signal-caller. The 6-foot-6 self-described pocket passer joined the Seawolves in time for spring ball and made an instant impression on head coach Chuck Priore — winning the starting job outright.

Though it played its best series of the year, the Stony Brook baseball team was swept for a third-straight week to open the 2023 season. The Seawolves (0-9) are off to their worst start in exactly 10 years. After being swept in three games by the No. 13 University of North Carolina (UNC) Tar Heels, Stony Brook has lost each of its first nine games.

Just five days after returning to Long Island from the Sunshine State, Stony Brook Softball went back to Jacksonville on Feb. 28. The Seawolves won the first two games, moving to 7-0 and lasting as the final unbeaten team in the country before falling to North Florida in a perfect game to take their first loss of the season.
