It was a battle for first place when the Stony Brook softball team hosted UMass Lowell at University Field on Wednesday, April 28 for what could have been a standings-altering doubleheader.
Stony Brook Softball went 1-2 against the defending America East champion Albany Great Danes in its first conference series and currently has a 9-12 overall record this season.
The Seawolves picked up their first weekend sweep of a doubleheader since the first week of April at University Field on Saturday. The sweep improves the team’s conference record to 9-7.
“The split is not really what we’re after,” coach Bryant said. “You can have the effort and sometimes not have the results.” The split of the doubleheader puts the team’s record at 14-27.
