Stony Brook University wants to avoid downsizing as it looks for solutions to its financial troubles, university officials emphasized in a town hall on Jan. 20.
The current financial status of Stony Brook Athletics was a major talking point throughout the town hall. The cancellation of the 2020 NCAA Tournament in men’s and women’s basketball led to a reduction in revenue distributed to each individual Division I conference.
Stony Brook University hosted a town hall on Monday, Nov. 25, that offered updates on negotiations between State University of New York (SUNY) and Elsevier. SUNY is currently negotiating a contract renewal with Elsevier, a scientific and medical journal publisher.
Major proposed changes to the USG constitution include abolishing the judiciary branch, changing student representation in the senate and eliminating required office hours for USG members.
