The Stony Brook hockey team was unable to secure a win at The Rinx in Hauppauge for the first time in over a year on Sunday, falling to Syracuse by a score of 4-2 in their first home loss since Oct. 30, 2016 in the same match-up.
After losing by a six-goal margin Friday night at LaHaye Ice Center in Lynchburg, Virginia, the Stony Brook hockey team powered back against the Liberty Flames for a 5-3 win and a split of the weekend set.
The Seawolves failed to dictate their typical style of play for the majority of the opening period and went into the second intermission with just one goal for the first time this season. By the time the third period began, the team had a renewed determination.
Stony Brook improved to a perfect 4-0 record this season after Saturday’s win and a 7-2 victory over Rutgers the previous night. This is their best start since the 2015-16 squad won their first five games.
