Stony Brook Volleyball used its enthusiastic energy to defeat the Hartford Hawks, 3-1 (25-18, 20-25, 25-17, 25-12) at Pritchard Gymnasium last Friday night.
The Seawolves were able to take the Stags to five sets, but they were not able to capitalize on their early lead. The Stags won the final two sets to end the game, 3-2.
“We just have to keep working hard,” sophomore middle blocker Taylor Wilson said. “We have to keep going, we have to push and we have to take wins when we can take them.”
“Our focus has been on improving since day one,” head coach Coley Pawlikowski said. “We’re getting better, we’re improving everyday. That’s all we can hope for.”
Taylor Wilson’s family came all the way from southern Indiana to watch Stony Brook face Binghamton in an America East volleyball match on Friday night. She did not disappoint.
Unfortunately for head coach Coley Pawlikowski’s Seawolves, the home Retrievers fought back to win the last two sets of the match at the Retrievers Athletic Center.
Middle blocker McKyla Brooks, setter Morgan Kath and outside hitter Taylor Wilson are the most senior starters for Stony Brook’s Volleyball team. They are all sophomores.
Because they are a young team, others in the conference may not be aware of Stony Brook’s style and ability, perhaps making them a dark horse to compete.
