Stony Brook University hosted a pharmaceutical take back effort on Wednesday, Nov. 13 to help the Stony Brook community safely dispose of old and unused pharmaceuticals using an “environmentally supportive” incineration process.
The Center for Prevention and Outreach (CPO) asked senior English major and jazz minor, Salvatore Fratto, to play a song at a rally in the Student Activities Center before the second annual “Walk of Hope.”
Dec. 1 is also World AIDS Day, a day to come together in the fight against HIV/AIDS around the world, and Stony Brook helped students on campus became a part of it.
The program also included musical performances and provided information about on-campus resources for those struggling with feelings of depression or hopelessness.
Contrary to the announcement made last semester, Stony Brook University will not be tobacco-free in 2014, following the New York State Legislature’s failure to pass a State University of New York-wide tobacco ban during the 2013 legislative session.
