The Undergraduate Student Government, or USG, isn’t just another acronym that gets thrown around campus; it is also an enormous part of the university. The undergraduate student body is represented by USG, a governing body of elected and appointed officials that includes executive, legislative and judicial branches.
Sophomore biology major Anna Lubitz will be USG’s next president after beating her two opponents, Adil Hussain of the Students United Party and Juan Cordon, who ran as an independent. Lubitz not only garnered more votes than her opponents but also received more than 50 percent of the vote, which is required to avoid a runoff election.
Ultimately, communication. I feel like it’s very important to reach out to the students, why I think Stony Brook University as a whole needs to have its students more involved and, through effective communication, I think that we can get students to say, “Yes. This is what happened at Stony Brook. I was involved with this. I had a say in this.”
