Physics professor Peter van Nieuwenhuizen will be honored, along with two other physicists, with the 2020 Special Breakthrough Prize for Fundamental Physics on Nov. 3 for their work on a modern field theory called supergravity.
On Wednesday, March 26, Dr. Michio Kaku captured the minds of all 1000+ students awaiting his lecture at Staller Center. Dr. Kaku is a highly renowned theoretical physicist, teacher and promoter of science. He is the co-founder of string field theory. Additionally, Kaku is one of the scientists working closely to complete Einstein’s final unfinished work – Unified Field Theory.
The field of physics has a problem. The general theory of relativity does a great job at describing gravity while the quantum field theory does an equally great job at describing electromagnetism and the forces that keep particles like protons and neutrons together.
