“We’re going to remember and reflect upon this season because we made history,” head coach Caroline McCombs said in a postgame press conference. “This is for all the women that have worn a Stony Brook jersey before.”
Even though this week’s series against Albany was ultimately meaningless, with the America East playoff bracket already set, the Seawolves easily swept the Great Danes in the process at home on Feb. 22 and 23.
After a season pause due to COVID-19 protocol, the Stony Brook women’s basketball team hit the road to New Hampshire, playing their first game in 20 days. The Seawolves battled hard but ultimately lost 50-47 on Saturday.
After sweeping the Binghamton Bearcats at home last weekend, the Stony Brook women’s basketball team played against the UMass Lowell River Hawks, losing the first game on Dec. 27 by 63-60 before turning it up on Dec. 28 for a 60-44 victory.
In their first America East Conference action of the season, the Stony Brook women’s basketball team played the role of the latter team to perfection by sweeping their weekend series against the Binghamton Bearcats on Dec. 19 and 20.
