Needing a bounceback performance after a dreadful loss to the Hartford Hawks, the Stony Brook men’s soccer team snapped their two-game losing streak in Baltimore on Saturday, Oct. 9 by beating the UMBC Retrievers 3-1.
The Stony Brook volleyball team took an early two-set lead against the New Hampshire Wildcats on Friday, Oct. 8 at Pritchard Gymnasium only to watch the opposition claw back and force a decisive fifth set.
After two shutout losses this week that saw the team drop to 2-2 in-conference and its 11-game home win streak snapped, the Seawolves do not have a winning record in America East play for the first time since September 2017.
With the goal-line stand, the Seawolves lost their first ever game in program history to Rhode Island. The 27-20 road overtime defeat on Oct. 2 handed Stony Brook its third consecutive loss, to another opponent that it had historically dominated.
Coming off a loss to then-No. 4 Oregon, facing a winless Fordham team from the weaker Patriot League should have been a nice tune-up before diving into the heart of conference play. Instead, the Seawolves were stunned and lost.
