The Center for Civic Justice hosted its first community dialogue of the semester to inform students about the upcoming midterm elections and the national debt issue.
#OPINION: The state of our nation depends upon the checks and balances that we hold our representatives to through democratic elections. We can decide to maintain the status quo or invite the next generation of leadership.
The Center for Civic Justice had a single mission before Nov. 3 — to get students to vote. The center provides services and support that empowers students to contribute to their community. Voting during elections allows students to do so.
To celebrate Black History Month and the contributions of black people in the U.S., Stony Brook University (SBU)’s Center for Civic Justice hosted an interactive discussion called “Thinking Inside the Box: The Truth Behind the Stereotypes,” on Feb. 17. The event discussed stereotypes and how they affect the way we view ourselves as well as others.
