Pitcher Dawn Bodrug finished the year with 285 strikeouts, breaking the Stony Brook softball single-season record set 20 years ago by Stephanie Poetzsch.
Senior Dawn Bodrug is in the midst of perhaps the greatest pitching season in Stony Brook Softball’s history, with 174 strikeouts in 109 innings. Her ERA currently sits at 1.28, which would be the best in the America East since 2005 if the season ended today.
In Saturday’s series opener, Jane Sallen pitched the full seven innings without allowing a hit, walking five and striking out six and bringing her record to 13-10.
The Stony Brook softball team (2-5) put up a battle, but Hartford came throughin the clutch to pull off a 4-3 victory in the bottom of the seventh inningon Saturday.
