Coming off their best season record-wise in head coach Caroline McCombs’ five-year tenure, the Stony Brook women’s basketball team is looking to get over the hump, win the program’s first ever America East Championship and earn a spot in the NCAA’s Division I Women’s Basketball Tournament.
Emotions for Stony Brook Women’s Basketball were soaring as the team prepared for the Vermont Catamounts in its final 2018-19 regular season contest. The Seawolves, who were hosting only their second season closer since 2012, knew it would be their last with the offensively explosive tandem of senior guards Shania ‘“Shorty” Johnson and Jerell Matthews.
In a victory characterized by efficient offense and an opportunity driven defense, Stony Brook Women’s Basketball came away with the 64-47 win over UMass Lowell on Saturday, Feb. 9. This is their third victory by double digits in their last four games.
