Coming off of a very promising 2021 season, the Stony Brook men’s soccer team will look to continue to trend upwards in 2022. However, they may find that task difficult given the circumstances surrounding this year’s team.
The Stony Brook men’s soccer team clinched a playoff berth on the final day of the regular season with a 1-0 home victory on Monday, Nov. 1 against the Albany Great Danes.
Needing a bounceback performance after a dreadful loss to the Hartford Hawks, the Stony Brook men’s soccer team snapped their two-game losing streak in Baltimore on Saturday, Oct. 9 by beating the UMBC Retrievers 3-1.
The Seawolves came out flat all-around in a 3-1 loss to the Hartford Hawks on Saturday, Oct. 2 at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium, as the offense could not get anything going against Hartford’s defense while their own defense could not stop Hartford’s offense.
So far, after playing five non-conference games, the men’s soccer team has started the season 4-1, beating LIU, Drexel, Columbia and Fairfield while only narrowly losing to Hofstra in between. The team’s 4-1 start is the best since 2004.
The Stony Brook men’s soccer team kept its hot start up at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 11, as the Seawolves rallied late to beat the Fairfield Stags in double overtime 2-1.
