On Saturday night, the Stony Brook men’s soccer team fell to its fourth straight opponent, dropping to 3-10-1 overall and 1-3 in conference play in a 2-1 defeat to UMass-Lowell.
The Stony Brook women’s sports teams had a successful weekend, as women’s volleyball swept its home invitational and women’s soccer beat Fordham on Sunday afternoon in an exciting overtime game.
The Stony Brook Baseball team traveled to UMass Lowell over the weekend for a three-game stretch against the River Hawks and came away with one win and two defeats. This was Stony Brook's first conference series loss on the season, dropping their overall record to 22-13 on the season and their record in America East play to 8-3.
The Seawolves fell 3-2 to UMass Lowell on Saturday. They fell behind 3-0, and brought the deficit back to within a single goal, but the Seawolves could not complete the comeback.
The UMass-Lowell River Hawks came into their Sunday afternoon matchup with the Stony Brook Seawolves losing their first 10 games of the season. But it was important for the Seawolves to not over look this game. “You have to learn very early how to fear no one but respect everyone” 29th year Coach Sue Ryan said after the game. “Our goal is to protect our home turf” she added, and that’s what the Seawolves did on Sunday, defeating the River Hawks 1-0 to improve to 7-3-1 on the season.
