The event, “Processing the 2020 Election: A Time for Connection, Healing, and Unity,” sought to allow the Stony Brook community to ask questions about the election’s aftermath.
“If necessary we will reschedule your commencement to make sure you walk across the stage and we proudly celebrate your accomplishments,” Kristina M. Johnson wrote to seniors in the letter.
About 150 or 200 students were at the protest, according to university police estimates. They clapped and chanted, “send us home, pay us back,” as they approached the administration building.

Gatteau claimed that every handicap accessibility button on campus had been repaired in the weeks following the student-led campaign.
At an Undergraduate Student Government (USG) Senate meeting on Thursday, March 14, Dean of Students, Richard Gatteau, said the university is proposing to raise fees from $1,377.25 a semester to $1,503.90.
“I almost did drop out. What really kept me going was my family. And I always wanted to be a teacher and nothing was going to stop me. I wasn’t going to let this one person kill my dream.”
