A new season for Stony Brook Women’s Soccer marks the dawn of a new era for the program. Coach Brendan Faherty takes over the program after 31 seasons under Sue Ryan.
As the clock ran out in the second half, the Stony Brook Women’s Soccer team’s playoff hopes ran out as well, leaving an aura of emptiness that filled LaValle Stadium.
Redshirt junior Raven Edwards headed in a 68th minute goal to salvage a 1-1 draw for the Stony Brook Women’s Soccer team on the road against the Binghamton Bearcats.
“Our goal is the same every year,” head coach Sue Ryan said. “To put us in a position to win the America East Championship so we can play in NCAA [tournament] matches.”
Despite dominating large portions of play and holding a large lead in shot attempts, the SBU women’s soccer team was defeated 2-0 by the visiting Sacred Heart Pioneers.
