Krasnoyarsk National Dance Company of Siberia shakes at Staller

The Staller Center for the Arts hosted an event on Saturday which featured the Krasnoyarsk National Dance Company of Siberia. After performing in more than 60 countries around the world, the group of professional dancers had its first performance on the Stony Brook University campus, which appeared to be a highly anticipated one as crowds of enthusiasts began filling up the main stage audience seating long before the actual performance began.

Renowned violinist Midori returns to Stony Brook

The Staller Center for the Arts saw the return of the renowned violinist, Midori, this weekend for a Master class followed by a concert this past Sunday. Midori began studying the violin with her mother at an early age. She was invited to her first musical debut at the age of 11 at the New York Philharmonic’s traditional New Year’s Eve concert, which pushed her to beginning her career in music.

Staller Center celebrates Halloween with The Addams Family

Celebrating its 25th anniversary this fall season, Staller Center for the Arts featured a seasonally festive, spooky and whimsical performance of the Broadway musical comedy The Addams Family this past Sunday evening. The Staller Center was fortunate enough to house the production on its tour of North America just in time for the week of Halloween.

Still, somewhere in between releasing and promoting her new single, “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” and making time for her new beau, Conor Kennedy, the pop-country star wants to perform at one lucky high school or college in the continental United States. Unfortunately for Stony Brook’s Swift fans, however, Stony Brook could not apply for the contest.

Students weigh in on Rihanna’s reunion with Chris Brown

It was a slap in the face for pop princess Rihanna’s supporters. The remix of Rihanna's song "Birthday Cake" featuring Chris Brown leaked on the internet. Due to the buzz, Brown was happy to be featured in Rihanna’s song, and, as fans awaited the official release, he gave them a dose of this: "Girl I wanna f*** you right now (right now)/ Been a long time, I’ve been missing your body/ Let me-let me turn the lights down." Brown is notorious for the domestic abuse case involving Rihanna, which became a permanent black mark on their careers, and the reconciliation between the two does not sit well with some fans.
