The 2020 Staller Center gala was packed on March 7 despite Gov. Cuomo’s declaration of a state emergency due to the coronavirus outbreak. The crowd laughed and the night went on with jokes and touching moments.
The audience burst into applause just as the sopranos of the Stony Brook Opera finished their introduction number from composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “The Magic Flute.”
For the first time ever, there will be a collaboration between the Stony Brook Opera and the Stony Brook Baroque Players to perform George Friedrich Handel’s famous opera, "Orlando," right here on campus at the Staller Center for the Arts.
