The Stony Brook athletics program is one made up of contradictions. Its athletes have taken home a slew of awards, but they play for a student body that is largely apathetic towards those accomplishments.
In a valiant effort, the Seawolves gave their all to the end of the line to close one of the most memorable seasons in program history, but were unable to secure the program’s first Final Four berth despite being minutes away.
“We were having a great year,” head coach Joe Spallina said in an interview with The Statesman. “We were ranked really high. We had beaten a top five team on the road and we had the carpet pulled out from under us, just like everybody else,”
