Reginald Ligonde, a senior business major and non-traditional student, was elected into the USG Senate during their meeting on Nov. 5. Ligonde explained that he applied for the role in order to bring attention to an underrepresented community.
There are over 1,400 undergraduate students at Stony Brook who are over 25 years of age. They each share a number of life circumstances, including students who are also balancing parenthood.
Many non-traditional students or adult learners on campus have to juggle school, work and parenthood in addition to the stress that comes with their classes.
