On Thursday, Nov. 5, Stony Brook released its America East conference schedule for seven sports set to play in the spring: baseball, men’s and women’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s soccer, softball and volleyball.
The America East Board of Presidents elected the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) Highlanders as the 10th member of the conference on Friday, June 12, with their membership effective July 1.
The 4-1-1 start to the season is the best start the men’s soccer team has had through the first six games since 2004, when the team began the season with the same record.
In similar fashion to the recent game against Rutgers, the ball rimmed out on what appeared to be a good look. The missed shot attempt sealed NJIT’s win over Stony Brook.
Despite a furious comeback attempt, the Stony Brook Men’s Soccer team was able to pull out a 3-2 victory over Iona on Wednesday night at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium.
Both teams will be back in action on Saturday. The men’s team plays at Sacred Heart for a match at 12:30 p.m., while the women will stay home for a 1 p.m. tilt with NJIT.
The team may finally have the offense to match its defensive play, perhaps making it more dangerous than ever before, as it seeks its first trip to the NCAA Tournament.
Stony Brook Athletics released the 2015-16 men’s basketball schedule on Wednesday. The highlight of the slate is a matchup against Notre Dame on the road on Tuesday, Dec. 8.
