Stony Brook women’s volleyball team’s NCAA tournament hopes ended on Friday when the Seawolves fell to top-seeded New Hampshire (23-25, 25-13, 25-11, 25-20).
On Friday night, the Stony Brook women’s volleyball team had dropped the first three points of its match against UMass-Lowell (3-26, 1-11), when a special moment came to fruition for the Seawolves.
The America East Conference released their weekly awards on Monday, and two Seawolves are recipients, as Kathy Fletcher and Nicole Vogel were named co-player of the week and setter of the week.
On Friday night, Stony Brook women’s volleyball was able to clinch a spot in the America East playoffs in front of a capacity crowd at Pritchard Gymnasium. On Sunday, they swept the weekend.
This Friday night, the Stony Brook women’s volleyball team played host to the Hartford Hawks, in what ended up being a dominant win for the Seawolves as they thoroughly outclassed their opponent.
A tough opponent, sloppy errors and questionable officiating marred a historic afternoon at Pritchard Gymnasium, as the New Hampshire Wildcats were able to topple the Seawolves on Saturday afternoon.
The women’s volleyball team opened the season with an underwhelming 4-7 record, but have since gone on a six-match winning streak, including wins in their first two games of conference play.
