Toni Blackman, entrepreneur and the first elected Hip-Hop Cultural Ambassador to the US Department of State, taught Stony Brook students the art of hip-hop mediation at the Charles B. Wang Center on Tuesday, Feb. 4.
After 13 years of working within the Stony Brook University community, Stefan Hyman was appointed to the position of Assistant Provost for Enrollment Strategies, Communications and Analytics at the beginning of the year.
The Stony Brook University music department has seen a wide range of big names come in as their artists in residence since its beginning. World renowned soloist musicians such as celebrated flutist Carol Wincenc and widely recognized instrumental ensembles have been placed as head faculty members, giving students the ability to work side by side with great and experienced masters.
The Stony Brook Wind Ensemble, led by Bruce Engel, brought the main stage at the Staller Center alive with energy and enthusiasm throughout its performance on April 24. The theme of the wind ensemble’s concert was the number five.
