“Pompeii” is a film all about the idea of loss. It is a film that highlights a powerful loss for one of the most powerful empires in history. It is a film that has its character fighting a losing battle for their freedom, love and life. But more importantly, it is a film that will make the audience lose appreciation for two cinematic classics due to how shamefully this film steals everything from them.
Watching “The LEGO Movie” is like watching some daredevil act happening right before your eyes. It is not just the fact that directors and writers Phil Lord and Chris Miller managed to convince someone that a movie based on Legos was a good idea, but that the film refuses to be a safe children’s film.
“That Awkward Moment” is named after a Twitter meme that has absolutely nothing to do with the film. It is a film that, on the most basic level, is a mess to the point where even the movie's few good aspects are brushed aside in favor of trying to be a romantic comedy for guys without the comedy.
“Her,” is both head-scratching science-fiction, an erotic fantasy for romantics (male and female) and a heartbreaking love story of how tightly people hold on to the ones they fall in love with, and how easily it can slip through their grip.
“Gravity” is a fantastic film that marks new technological advances in film while giving a simple, yet compelling narrative surrounding two strong characters. It is entertainment at its finest, and a film that deserves to be seen in IMAX 3D, as it was intended. “Gravity” will scare some and amaze others. It left me counting every breath once I left the theater.
