Stony Brook University issued its first official coronavirus update since rumors started circulating that classes will be moved online in two campus-wide emails from Interim President Michael Bernstein on March 11.
“Beyond the Expected” — Stony Brook University’s first podcast — premiered on Feb. 6. The podcast gets voices and insight from “members of our campus community and beyond who are deeply committed to contributing their time, talent and solutions to the most pressing issues in the communities where they live, work and play.”
I had the opportunity to attend a student media briefing with Interim President, Dr. Michael Bernstein on Wednesday, Dec. 4 with Editor in Chief of The Statesman, Gary Ghayrat and Assistant News Editor, Maya Brown. The briefing consisted of other campus media outlets along with The Statesman, and other members of Bernstein’s team, such as University Media Relations Officer, Lauren Sheprow.
The university will be loosening its hiring restrictions after “substantial progress” was made towards stabilizing the university budget, Interim President Michael Bernstein announced during a University Senate meeting on Monday, Sept. 9.
