In its season opener, the Stony Brook women’s basketball team welcomed fans back to Island Federal Arena for the first time since March 2020 with an 87-46 defeat of the Delaware State Hornets.
“We’re going to remember and reflect upon this season because we made history,” head coach Caroline McCombs said in a postgame press conference. “This is for all the women that have worn a Stony Brook jersey before.”

The Seawolves (25-1, 13-0) extended the nation’s longest winning streak to 22 games, continuing to hold a flawless record in conference play and surpassing the program’s previous records for most wins a season, set in 2014.
