Despite coming off its first loss of the season followed by a game canceled due to COVID-19 protocols, the Stony Brook women’s basketball team looked stronger than ever in a 75-69 offensive showcase against Ivy League opponent Penn on Dec. 10.
The Stony Brook women’s basketball team shot a dismal 2-for-17 from behind the arc as it suffered its first loss of the season by a score of 71-59 against the Fordham Rams, terminating an historic 7-0 start.
The Stony Brook men’s basketball team was scheduled to open its season against the Bryant Bulldogs on Wednesday, Nov. 25, but the game was scrapped on early Wednesday morning after a referee reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.
The Stony Brook men’s lacrosse team split its recent matchups, edging out Hofstra 11-10 on Tuesday, March 26. However, the Seawolves lost to the Marist College Red Foxes by a score of 10-5 on Saturday, March 3.
The America East Championships start Thursday night in Albany when the second-seeded Seawolves face the third-seeded Catamounts in a semi-final matchup beginning at 4:30 p.m.
The game had it all — behind-the-back goals, controversial calls and overtime — but in the waning seconds of the extra period, the Red Foxes upset the eighth-ranked Seawolves.
