A frustrating season for the Stony Brook volleyball team continued on Sunday, Oct. 20 when the Seawolves traveled up to Durham and were swept by the New Hampshire Wildcats.
In their final non-conference matchup of the season, the Stony Brook volleyball team defeated the Columbia Lions in four sets on Monday, Sept. 30. Improving their record to 5-11, the Seawolves have no one but America East opponents ahead of them in their regular season schedule.
Top-seeded Stony Brook Volleyball concluded its season in thrilling fashion, winning the America East Championship for the second consecutive season. The Seawolves defeated the No. 2-ranked Albany Great Danes in five sets and finished the conference season with a perfect 14-0 record.
Stony Brook is looking for retribution from its loss to Albany in four sets at the 2007 conference finals, which was the last time the Seawolves hosted the tournament.
The Seawolves defeated each of their conference rivals in the first go-around of the league schedule and swept the Hartford Hawks in both of their contests.
Despite two three-set sweeps over the weekend against America East rivals Binghamton Bearcats and the UMBC Retrievers, Stony Brook Volleyball was not content.

Sweeps were a trend for Stony Brook Volleyball at the Washington State Tournament, as the team was beaten in three sets by Illinois State on Friday, Sept. 7 and No. 23-ranked Washington State on Saturday, Sept. 8, but defeated McNeese State in three sets Friday night.
"To have the opportunity to play in the NCAA Tournament for the first time is an amazing experience," head coach Kristin Belzung said in a press release.
