Stony Brook Men’s Basketball head coach Jeff Boals won the first game of his Stony Brook career after his team defeated the Hampton Pirates, 76-66, on the road on Saturday.
Freshman guard Andrew Garcia of the Stony Brook men's basketball team has undergone a season-ending surgery on his left knee, according to Stony Brook Athletics.
“It’s a tough shot,” Nyama said with a laugh. “I’m, what, six inches taller than the kid? And the kid swished it over me. It just wasn’t meant to be, I guess.”
Iroegbu is one of three transfers on the team. Junior forward Junior Saintel and sophomore guard Blair Mendy join him as newcomers from the junior college system.
“Our focus has been on improving since day one,” head coach Coley Pawlikowski said. “We’re getting better, we’re improving everyday. That’s all we can hope for.”

After spending the preseason and summer league with the Dallas Mavericks of the National Basketball Association, former Stony Brook forward Jameel Warney was waived.
