Perhaps blinded by the Friday night lights, the Seawolves lost their first road game of the season to the No. 22/22 Rhode Island Rams 35-14. The second frame was the difference in the contest, as the Rams outscored Stony Brook 21-0.
The Seawolves were roughed up in their first game of their 2023 campaign on Thursday, falling to the No. 19/21 Delaware Blue Hens 37-13. They will look to bounce back when they travel to Kingston, R.I. to take on the No. 22/23 Rhode Island Rams.
After suffering through a lost year that was riddled with injury, poor play and disappointment, the Stony Brook football team is now in one of the worst spots it has ever been in.

It was the first time in program history that Stony Brook had ever lost to Rhode Island after winning its first seven contests against the Rams. Dating back to 2019, the Seawolves are 2-11 in their last 13 games.
With the goal-line stand, the Seawolves lost their first ever game in program history to Rhode Island. The 27-20 road overtime defeat on Oct. 2 handed Stony Brook its third consecutive loss, to another opponent that it had historically dominated.
Coming off a bye week, the 3-0 (1-0 CAA) Rams will be well-rested as they look to stay undefeated and earn their first win over Stony Brook in program history. The Seawolves are 7-0 all-time against Rhode Island, with an average margin of victory of 18.14 points in those games.
