Johnson breaks program single-season assist record in win over UMass Lowell

In a victory characterized by efficient offense and an opportunity driven defense, Stony Brook Women’s Basketball came away with the 64-47 win over UMass Lowell on Saturday, Feb. 9. This is their third victory by double digits in their last four games.

Women’s Basketball defeats Binghamton off fourth quarter offensive burst

Trailing 41-38 with eight seconds remaining in the third quarter, Stony Brook Women’s Basketball senior guard Shania “Shorty” Johnson looked to uniquely create an open shot away from the basket against Binghamton. As time continued ticking away, Johnson found her sweet spot around half court and released a high arcing blast.

Women’s Basketball defeats Cornell 63-61 in nail-biter

Stony Brook Women’s Basketball fended off the Cornell Big Red’s late comeback attempt in a thrilling 63-61 victory on Saturday, Dec. 1. “I thought that we came out a little slow compared to how we had been playing so I like how we were able to come from behind,” head coach Caroline McCombs said in a press conference.
