Emotions for Stony Brook Women’s Basketball were soaring as the team prepared for the Vermont Catamounts in its final 2018-19 regular season contest. The Seawolves, who were hosting only their second season closer since 2012, knew it would be their last with the offensively explosive tandem of senior guards Shania ‘“Shorty” Johnson and Jerell Matthews.
In a victory characterized by efficient offense and an opportunity driven defense, Stony Brook Women’s Basketball came away with the 64-47 win over UMass Lowell on Saturday, Feb. 9. This is their third victory by double digits in their last four games.
Trailing 41-38 with eight seconds remaining in the third quarter, Stony Brook Women’s Basketball senior guard Shania “Shorty” Johnson looked to uniquely create an open shot away from the basket against Binghamton. As time continued ticking away, Johnson found her sweet spot around half court and released a high arcing blast.
