The Stony Brook football team’s defense was a detriment once again in another lopsided loss, as its slim chances to win a game this season dwindled further. The Seawolves were annihilated 56-17 by the Monmouth Hawks in West Long Branch, N.J. on Saturday.

Stony Brook football routed by No. 22 New Hampshire on homecoming

Unlike last year, the Stony Brook football team could not get back in the win column on homecoming, leaving it with its new worst-ever start to a season as a Division I program. The game was over from the start for the Seawolves, who were run out of their own building on Saturday by the No. 22 New Hampshire Wildcats 45-14.

Though the Stony Brook football team’s secondary had its best game in years, it still was not enough to carry it to victory. While fighting through the rain and wind on Saturday afternoon at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium, the Seawolves fell a point shy of a win against the Richmond Spiders.

For the past 434 days, the Stony Brook football team’s record was .500 or better. Following their 17-10 loss to the University of Delaware Blue Hens (5-6, 3-4), the Seawolves (5-6, 2-5) winning percentage is now .455 and they have now lost five of their past six games after starting the season 4-1.
