The Stony Brook English Pal, a program that matches international students with English speakers to provide them with a chance to meet, interact and practice their language skills, became an independent club this semester.
“Everybody keeps saying about ‘diversity’ and ‘diversity is good,’” Ricky Simanjuntak said. “And I’m not saying it’s bad. But what I have to point out is … it’s hard.”
The United States has long been a popular destination for foreigners to flock to, whether it was for permanent residence or just to see the sights and visit. It’s now popular for another reason: education.
