Senior Dawn Bodrug is in the midst of perhaps the greatest pitching season in Stony Brook Softball’s history, with 174 strikeouts in 109 innings. Her ERA currently sits at 1.28, which would be the best in the America East since 2005 if the season ended today.
Eventually, SBU Softball’s experienced roster will regain its consistency. In the meantime, they have been following no-hitters and tournament sweeps with questionable losses like their 10-6 extra innings defeat at the Fordham Rams on March 30.
Stony Brook Softball went 2-2 in a weekend trip to Massachusetts on March 20 and 21, dropping both games of a Saturday doubleheader to the Boston University Terriers and sweeping the Boston College Eagles the next day.
After having all five opening games canceled last weekend, Stony Brook Softball traveled to Colorado in search of a delayed but successful start to its 2019 campaign. Instead, inclement weather washed three more ball-games from the Seawolves schedule at the Colorado State Classic, leaving the team with a pair of losses suffered on Friday, March 1.
The Stony Brook Softball season is around the corner and the team is poised to exceed expectations. With three veteran senior leaders and several new additions to the roster, the Seawolves are determined to reclaim their first America East Championship since 2013.
