Construction on Toll Drive results in destruction of 5.5 acres of woodland

Several hundred trees were cleared for the construction of a 759-bed residence hall and 60,000 square-foot dining facility on Toll Drive. Three out of four "exploitably vulnerable" trees were replanted in the Research & Development Park.

Campus spotlight: Landscaping Manager Andrea Petterson makes SBU beautiful

The Landscaping Manager is in charge of the greenhouse at the Research and Development Park and she is in charge of maintaining some of the gardens on campus. The greenhouse is open to all students and she strives to make the vegetable garden available as well. Petterson is responsible for making the campus beautiful.
