Stony Brook Women’s Basketball picked up a 63-46 victory over Iona in a non-conference matchup on Thursday night, snapping a four-game losing streak. The game was Stony Brook’s first victory of December.
The Seawolves tacked on 14 points in the game’s final eight minutes, hitting eight of nine from the free-throw line to make up for a 20 percent mark from the field in the quarter. The team’s late surge ultimately fell short, however, and by the final buzzer Stony Brook had lost 48-40.
Stony Brook Women’s Basketball started out cold in its non-conference home game against Division III opponent Farmingdale State, but a collaborative team effort led the Seawolves to a 76-25 victory against the Rams.
The loss of contact with her struggling family made it hard for Perez to focus on basketball and her studies at first. Even so, she powered through, pouring herself into her game as a tribute to her loved ones.
