#OPINION: “Bring back manly men,” tweeted conservative author, Candace Owens, on Nov. 14. When first reading this tweet, my eyes transfixed on the words “manly man.”
Stony Brook University’s undergraduate population is 53 percent male and 47 percent female. The split is not 50/50, but it is close enough to be even. Still, in terms of classroom participation, there seems to be an overwhelming presence of male voices.
Although the number of women graduating from colleges is greater than the number of men graduating nationwide, there is a shortage of women running for executive student government positions.
