Stony Brook Tennis players competed in two tournaments this past weekend, plying their skills at the Brown Invitational and the Oracle ITA Masters to mixed results.
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association ranked senior Raphael Termat No. 118 in the country on May 4, making him the first nationally ranked Stony Brook player in over a decade.
“We fought, everyone fought,” Hoffmann said. “Even after they clinched the match, we didn’t give up on any of the courts. Even off the court we all cheered for each other.”
Stony Brook Men’s and Women’s Tennis teams won their first conference matches of the season as both teams edged out UMBC, 4-3, in Baltimore on Saturday.
The next action for head coach Gary Glassman’s squad will be on Friday, when the men’s tennis team will face Queens College in a road dual match at 12 p.m..
With regular tournament play out of the way, both the men’s and the women’s teams will be in ITA Regional play. Both teams begin the tournament on Oct. 22.
