Stony Brook women’s soccer team won its third America East title in the last four years. The win in Lowell, Massachusetts secured the program’s fourth NCAA Tournament bid, having previously earned a berth in 2012, 2017 and 2019.

The Stony Brook women’s soccer team defeated the New Hampshire Wildcats in the America East semifinals by a final score of 2-1 on Thursday, Nov. 7 at home. It was the second time that the Seawolves had defeated the Wildcats this season following a rain-soaked battle on Oct. 27.
“UAlbany was a very well-coached team and they are a handful offensively,” head coach Tobias Bischof said in a press release. “We thought we had a good game plan and we did a good job of following it, taking advantage of the chances we had. We work on set pieces a lot in practice so it was nice to see us take advantage tonight.”
Junior forward Alyssa Francese tried to take things into her own hands late in the open field and passed to junior forward Fanny Götesson, who returned the pass to Francese as she headed the ball into the goal.
