Nancy Goroff will compete with Republican Rep. Lee Zeldin for a seat in the House of Representatives this November. If she were to defeat Zeldin this upcoming election, Goroff would become the first female Ph.D. scientist in Congress.
Stony Brook University is no stranger to forced prison labor, as the school spent around $19,974 on prison-made goods in 2019, according to the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.
Interim Vice President of Advancement, Deborah Lowen-Klein, wrote that “we are grateful to him for his service for our University and wish him luck in his new position at Farmingdale State, another SUNY institution.”

The one thing we do know for sure is that the piling weight of uncertainty is unfair to SBU’s faculty and students. Simply addressing the rumors and telling us what they are just as unsure of what to do would suffice.
