Three Stony Brook faculty members have signed on to a statewide task force to combat ocean acidification, which was announced by New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Commissioner Basil Seggos on Aug. 22.
Dr. Safina's series explored the interconnectedness between animals and humans and their similarities in empathy, consciousness, self-awareness and imitation.
Just a couple of days ago it was revealed that three of Stony Brook’s professors, Dr. Russell A. Mittermeier, Dr. Carl Safina, and Dr. Patricia C. Wright, made up three out of the six finalists in the running for the Indianapolis Prize, which is generally recognized as “the world’s leading award for animal conservation,” according to Morgan Lyle’s article in Newsday.com.
