The eighth-seeded Stony Brook women’s lacrosse team was firing on all cylinders at home on Friday, as the Seawolves defeated the visiting Towson Tigers by a final score of 14-8 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Monmouth University Women’s Lacrosse announced recent Stony Brook Women’s Lacrosse alumna Dorrien Van Dyke would be their new assistant coach last week.
Three former Stony Brook Women’s Lacrosse players were drafted by teams in the Women’s Professional Lacrosse League (WPLL) in the league’s inaugural draft on Wednesday – midfielders Dorrien Van Dyke and Kristin Yevoli and defender Jessica Volpe.
Former senior midfielder Alex Corpolongo and senior midfielder Jeff Reh, who graduated this month, were selected in the 2017 Major League Lacrosse Draft on May 28.

Stony Brook’s win over Albany was its 26th straight in America East play and thirteenth straight overall. It improves the Seawolves’ overall record to 18-1 heading into the NCAA playoffs.
