Despite a great effort from quarterback Casey Case, the Stony Brook football team officially fell to sole possession of last place in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA). In a battle between the two remaining winless teams in the CAA, the Seawolves found themselves on the wrong end of a one-sided game.
Still winless, the Stony Brook football team will look to find its first triumph of the season in a similar fashion to last year. This Saturday, they will head up to Orono, Maine to take on the Maine Black Bears at 3:30 p.m.
The 22-17 victory differed from the team’s last two explosive wins against Delaware and Richmond, as both teams averaged under five yards per play and neither topped 300 yards from scrimmage.
Two minutes and 30 seconds remained on the clock as the Stony Brook defense needed to prevent the Maine Black Bears from driving 56 yards to score a potential game-winning touchdown. One play was all that was required to ensure that would not happen.
Following their bye week, the Stony Brook football team will look to continue their win streak on the road against the Maine Black Bears at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6.
