Stony Brook baseball defeats LSU, advances to its first College World Series

In the annals of teams that have passed into Omaha, Neb., to play for the collegiate baseball's crown, Stony Brook has now crashlanded for the first time, putting the Seawolves on the map around the nation and the worldwide web. In front of a crowd of 10,620, the largest in the history of the Louisiana State University (LSU) baseball, the Stony Brook University baseball upset the seventh-seeded Tigers in the third game of a three-game set in the Super Regionals to advance to its first ever NCAA College World Series.

At the helm of this endeavor is junior English major Colleen O’Connor, the president of an organization that prides itself on being a safe space for those in the queer community who need a haven where they can be themselves.

Softball sweeps Hartford in first conference series

Stony Brook softball needed just four and a half innings to put away Hartford on Sunday, which finished off a three-game sweep. Starting pitcher freshman Allison Cukrov pitched well again for the Seawolves, as she picked up her eighth victory of the season. She gave up just four hits and struck out four batters in five innings of work.
