Curtis Copenhaver may very well be one of the team’s most valuable players in 2022. The Seawolves could have found themselves in deep trouble after starting goalkeeper Edmond Kaiser went down with an injury following the season opener.
The Seawolves traveled down to North Carolina on Saturday, Sept. 10 to face off against the Elon Phoenix for their first road game of the conference season. Stony Brook came away with a 1-0 defeat after being shut down by the Elon defense.
The Seawolves showed out in their first conference game of the season on Saturday, Sept. 3 with a 2-1 win over the Hofstra Pride at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium. The victory marked the first conference win as members of the CAA for Stony Brook.
Coming off of a very promising 2021 season, the Stony Brook men’s soccer team will look to continue to trend upwards in 2022. However, they may find that task difficult given the circumstances surrounding this year’s team.
Heartbreak was all that Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium was left with on Saturday, Nov. 6 as the Stony Brook men’s soccer team was eliminated from the postseason in the America East quarterfinals by the UMBC Retrievers via penalty kicks.
