Stony Brook softball continued to roll this past weekend as the bats and arms came together in a total beatdown of the last-place Hawks. Everything went Stony Brook’s way from Saturday to Sunday, protecting its home yard to improve to 26-13.
The SBU softball team advanced to the title game of the 2021 America East Softball Championship, falling short of a ring to a familiar foe. The third-seeded Seawolves lost two games against No. 1 seed UMBC, who took home its second consecutive title.
Senior Dawn Bodrug is in the midst of perhaps the greatest pitching season in Stony Brook Softball’s history, with 174 strikeouts in 109 innings. Her ERA currently sits at 1.28, which would be the best in the America East since 2005 if the season ended today.
Stony Brook Softball came out of the America East awards ceremony with a lot to smile about, after players were named to the All-Conference First Team, Second Team, Rookie Team, and All-Academic Team, as well as bringing home the top honor, the America East Player of the Year.
